HWH could not exist without our volunteers. By volunteering at HWH, you are taking an active part in our rescue work and a critical stand against the abuse and mistreatment of horses. You will help to ensure a dignified life for our horses and help sustain America’s long heritage of equine welfare.
Volunteer Level Program
Being a volunteer anywhere is a serious commitment of time, energy, and attention. A volunteer commitment to horses is even more serious. It is a decision that should be reflected on before being pursued. This is for your safety and comfort, as well as the safety and comfort of the horses we care for.
Our standards of operating at HWH are based on being professional and compassionate at all times. You will be expected to work to a high standard.
Everyone can volunteer at HWH, and there is always something to do. Volunteering at our center can be as labor-intensive or relaxed as you wish. As a volunteer, you will help with daily chores such as mucking stalls, daily maintenance of the horses, and infrastructural improvements to stables.
You may also enroll in the HWH Volunteer Level Program In return for your efforts, you will grow in your ability to care for and perhaps train and/or ride horses, and you will earn credits toward riding lessons, discounts on HWH merchandise, horse adoptions, and/or Community Service Hours.
